Shelagh Haynes, Registered Physiotherapist
Shelagh graduated from Queen’s University in 2009 with her Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy. While at Queen’s, her student clinical placements took her from Moose Factory, Ontario to London, UK. She has since worked in a variety of settings, including private practice, long-term care, home care and school care. She has taken continuing education courses in a range of orthopedic disciplines such as Mulligan “mobilization with movement” techniques, therapeutic taping, Pilates for health professionals, acupuncture, and trigger point dry needling. She is currently completing the 200 hour Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher training course with the goal of incorporating yoga into her practice as a method of healing. Shelagh’s passion lies in facilitating health and healing by enabling her clients to take an active role in their wellness and/or recovery journey.
In her spare time, Shelagh enjoys yoga, boxing, and running along the canal. She is also an avid traveler, having recently returned from visiting China and India where she studied yoga and volunteered in a children’s treatment centre.
Chad Wilson, Doctor of Chiropractic & ART Provider (Active Release Techniques)
Originally from the small town of Waterdown, Ontario, Chad graduated from the University of Waterloo with an honours bachelor of science degree in Kinesiology (the study of human movement), and later obtained a second bachelor of science degree in Human Biology and a Doctorate of Chiropractic from Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis Missouri. Since that time, Chad has worked in various clinical settings and has studied to become full-body certified in ART – Active Release Techniques (Upper Extremity, Lower Extremity, Spine, Nerve Entrapment Release, Masters certification, Ironman provider). Chad’s goal as the founder of OC3 is to provide a multidisciplinary approach to injury care, so that patients benefit from the knowledge base of various disciplines of health care. Through this model, Chad believes that patients are better served as injuries are subjected to quicker healing times.
Chad is an avid downhill skier, and also enjoyes running, hockey, windsurfing, adventure/obstacle racing, and spending time with his wife Lindsay and young daughter Hope.
John MacGillivray, Registered Massage Therapist
John grew up in Petawawa, Ontario, and studied to become a registered massage therapist at Sir Sanford Fleming college in Peterborough.
“As a Registered Massage Therapist it is my responsibility to soften the tissues and joints of the body with intent to promote good physical function, relieve pain, and prevent future dysfunction. By manipulating muscle and joints, I can ease tension and help promote natural healing of adaptive stress. I am proud to work alongside other healthcare professionals in an effort to provide collective experience and expertise to the Ottawa community. I believe strongly in the importance of physical balance. Posture and muscular health through regular exercise are paramount to maintaining good function throughout our lives. My practice revolves around easing muscular tension and promoting balanced activity”
Ashley Morrison, Registered Massage Therapist
Ashley has been a practicing Registered Massage Therapist since 2010, after successfully completing an intensive 2500 hour certification program. She works closely with other health care practioners to provide an integrated approach to the health and well-being of her clients. She is a passionate person who focuses on her clients with careful attention, compassion and confidentiality. Methods of treatment include Deep Tissue, Swedish Massage, Trigger-point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Pregnancy Massage, Stress-Relief and Relaxation focused treatments.
Olaf van der Putten, Registered Massage Therapist
Olaf (“The Count” as he’s known in the clinic), is a masterful manual therapist. He strategically blends 17 years experience as a registered massage therapist, with his wealth of knowledge on the human body and mind. When Olaf’s not helping clients, he enjoys running, swimming, playing guitar, and spending time with his wife, family and friends.
Carolyn Gemmell, Administrative Assistant
Born and raised in Ottawa, Carolyn attended Algonquin College as a Veterinary Assistant and has worked in both general practice and emergency/critical care since graduating in 2003. Fostering orphaned domestic and wild animals has been a fun and challenging hobby for her since. She began her career in human health when she started at Oc3 in June of 2012. This has inspired her to embrace a more active lifestyle – taking up jogging and biking regularly. She lives in Sandy Hill with her cat Keewie and python Lou.
