Margot MacEwen
Margot grew up on the west coast in Vancouver, British Columbia, as well as having lived on Vancouver
Island for several years. After studying Art in London, U.K. for a year, Margot completed a B.A. in English, Film & Communications from McGill University in Montreal. This was followed by a Master’s Degree in Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. It was then that an interest in health, fitness and community development was ignited: “My guiding Professor at U.B.C. showed me the value and necessity of non-profit and community development work, as well as a deep appreciation for health, wellness and recreation initiatives.” From there, Margot went on to work in administration and programming for a health & fitness facility, the Y.W.C.A. and various non-profit organizations in Vancouver. She became B.C.R.P.A. certified in Fit I Theory and Weight Training Modules, as well as worked in academic advancement and research administration in U.B.C.’s Department of Psychiatry at the Vancouver General Hospital. A love of animals led to volunteer work with the S.P.C.A., Southgate Stables and the Errington Therapeutic Riding Association, an organization which assists children and adults living with disabilities to experience the physical and emotional benefits of horseback riding. Margot also currently works for a national academic tutoring company, TutorBright, assisting students from elementary grades up to university level, as well as adult ESL: “Working with students one-on- one, breaking down concepts, sharing ideas and offering new perspectives is some of the most enriching and rewarding work I’ve done.” Margot is also the proud mother of two young daughters and new to Ottawa having relocated here in spring 2016. She is thrilled to be a part of the OC3 team “Being a part of an organization which promotes the health, wellness, growth and learning outcomes of the surrounding community is important to me, and exactly where I want to be!”
