Karen Boyle, M.Sc.PT – Physiotherapist
Karen Boyle
Physiotherapist & Concussion Management Provider
Karen Boyle completed her Master of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto.
Prior to this, Karen graduated with Magna Cum Laude from the University of Ottawa, receiving
her Bachelor of Science with a specialization in Human Kinetics. As a past athlete herself,
having played basketball at a competitive level for eight years, Karen is a strong advocate of
sport and physical activity. Karen does not believe in providing solely passive therapy. She puts
an emphasis on movement and functional exercises that are meaningful to her patients. The
therapy Karen provides is a combination of manual therapy, acupuncture, individualized
education and tailored exercises to suit each of her client’s needs. Karen is a firm believer in
evidence-based practice and continual learning, and ensures that the treatment she provides is
uptodate, effective and safe.
Karen has worked with a wide array of patient populations in different therapy settings
throughout her education and work experience. She has worked in inpatient and outpatient
settings in both hospital and private practice environments. In addition to her knowledge of
common musculoskeletal injuries and conditions including plantar fasciitis, patellofemoral
syndrome, lower back pain, shoulder impingement and arthritis, Karen has also been instructed
in the rehabilitation of the amputee and spinal cord populations.
For the past two years Karen has been mentored and trained in baseline concussion testing and
the rehabilitation of acute concussion and post-concussion syndrome. She is eager to continue to
learn more about this condition and advocate for concussion policies and increased awareness to
protect athletes as well as the general population.
